Star Wars – A New Desire
The sun was setting on Dantooine. Darkness was rising over the capital
with only a few lights from the shuttles and speeders. You could hear the
noises from cantinas and merchants all around the centre of the capital. Two
figures had recently landed and were causing the local security to tighten
security. Tyran was growing tiresome. As a Lord of the Sith, he had to have
taken specific security measures. He understood too well that his kind was
dying out. He had solved the issue of security by hiring his own private
security. Xobie, the other hooded figure, was a Bounty Hunter. Xobie had always
loved the chase of a target but the amount Tyran was offering was a much more
stable rate of pay. He liked that. Xobie had met Tyran a few years back on
Tattooine and since then they had had a
decent working relationship and a good friendship. Their friendship has been
described as brotherly. They had completed many tasks with each other and taken
on more hostile than Xobie cared to count. Now they had been given their most
relaxing mission to date. Pose as political figures and go find a young boy.
They were treated well by security because of their falsified documents
which had been given upon entering the starport. As political figures,
Dantooine had made an effort to prove themselves by enforcing more security
than what was honestly needed. Xobie
didn’t mind the local security going to all these extra efforts. After all, it
made his job a lot easier. He didn’t however, enjoy how uptight Tyran was about
it. This trip wasn’t work related. Xobie knew the real meaning of coming to
this miserable planet. Tyran had been in contact with a Sith Lord of Korriban.
Darth Vikrus had requested that to prove his loyalty to the Sith, Tyran was to
collect a youngling and bring him back to Korriban for assessment and training.
Tyran didn’t care too much for the quest. He just wanted to reinforce renew his
loyalty to the Sith by completing this feeble task. Xobie recalled Tyran
cursing Darth Vikrus because of such a trivial trip. They hadn’t been given
much detail by the Imperial intelligence officers. Just that Dantooine was
currently under threat of republic forces taking over vital trade points. This
was common knowledge as you could watch for the updates on the holonet.
Tyran and Xobie eventually got through all the security at Dantooine’s
spaceport. They were met in the lobby by a small man in formal robes.
“Minister Remmore. It’s so glad to have you visit our beautiful world.
I am Minister Vill Treek. I serve as advisor to Senator Inle. I will be you
point of contact for the duration of your visit”.
“Thank you Minister Treek”. Tyran shook this hand. “It is a pleasure to
be visiting your beautiful world. Our duration should only be a few days. We
are here to view your sights and get an idea of your planet. We believe this
would enforce political relations between Dantooine and the Senate”. Minister
Treek seemed startled by the knowledge that his visitors were from the Senate.
Tyran could feel his emotions flicker through the force. He was alerted. Not in
a manner as to say he was under threat, but more of a fashion that he would
most likely be trying to please his visitors.
Xobie spoke. “Minister Treek. I am Minister Xobie. I work in
administration services for the Senate. It’s a pleasure to make your
acquaintance”. Xobie was about a foot taller than Minister Treek and this he
found made him naturally intimidating. It was good when he used to enter a room
with two blaster pistols and unload. Now he just finds it amusing to watch
people tip toe around him.
“A pleasure to meet you Minister Xobie” He bowed as he spoke.
“Gentleman, if there is anything that I can be of assistance of whilst you
visit, be sure to get me on my comlink”. He handed his com detail Xobie. “Once
again, a pleasure to meet you both” He bowed a final time and walked out into
the dark night.
“We have a few days to complete our search. What would you like to do
whilst I search?” Tyran started rummaging through his rucksack to find his
credit chip. “We obviously have to find a place to stay for the next few
nights. It shouldn’t be too hard to find somewhere”.
“I chased a woman who had run away with her child around here. The
husband asked me to collect the child. Wife was optional if you catch my
meaning”. Tyran did catch his meaning. Knowing Xobie for all this time, he was
sure that the wife was no longer alive. They didn’t like loose ends. Xobie had
taught Tyran how that can come back around one day and cause trouble. “There
was a small place I stayed at a short shuttle journey from here. It was
peaceful and had a great diner nearby”.
“Lead the way my friend. Once we are alone or at least not have a
chance of being overheard, I will discuss the true nature of our trip. What we
are searching for”. Xobie smiled. They picked up their belongings and walked
out of the starport. It was a warm night, warmer than most nights on Corrillia,
but not quite as warm as Tattooine. Tyran
enjoyed the weather. It was relaxing. Xobie however seemed distressed by it.
“I don’t like it here” Xobie declared. “I hate having to wear civilian
clothes”. Tryan could feel his distress. His emotions wear heightening. Tyran
used the force to alter his emotions. Xobie hated it when Tyran interfered but
Tyran had learnt if he interferes slowly Xobie doesn’t notice the change as
easily. He just thinks he is calming down.
“Worry not; I have a surprise for you. I decided that since you are
soon to be entering your Mandolorian soon, I thought you should have the armour
to match as I believe it’s customary upon entry to have the correct equipment”.
He felt Xobie excitement. It made him grin to see his friend happy and act like
a young Bantha who has found a womp rat to torment. Tyran noted that he no
longer had to use the force on Xobie’s because his distress had disappeared
rapidly. “It will be transported here tomorrow. You will have to return to the
starport for collection, but it’s all yours”.
Xobie patted Tyran on the back “Thank you. It’s better than the un
matching pieces of armour I have now. I will return here when I have been
notified of its arrival”. Tyran was pleased. His friend was going to need all
the support for his trials. You are not born Mandolore. You have to earn it. It
was the highest authority a bounty hunter could gain. He wanted that for his
friend. It would also help him with his own power base. A Sith needs a good
power base and connections to the Manolorians is a very good start.
They arrived at the shuttle and Xobie chose their destination. They
took their seat and waited. Tyran knew as a Lord of the Sith he could get
transport easily from the empire. He didn’t want to alert too many people of
his presence because that would ruin his cover and also make it more difficult
to move freely. He also enjoyed public transport. You meet interesting
character and Tyran found he could get a feel of the atmosphere. The moods of
the general public can be very useful when trying to find out information.
Xobie on the other hand, did not like public transport. It was too crowded with
too many noises. He preferred to feel relaxed when travelling. He knew however
that as a bounty hunter that moving around was easier via public transport.
Especially if you intend to stay undetected.
The shuttle took off. It was a 20 minute journey to where they were
staying. Upon arrival, droids scuttled around them to collect their belongings.
They didn’t own much between them; two rucksacks that contained their essentials.
Their ship had all the other equipment that they might need. Spare blasters,
armour and all the other bits a bounty hunter might need. The droids waited
whilst Tyran booked a room. They were taken up to their shared room. Xobie
usually would scout around the building to learn of its escapes and good
defence points in case of an attack. He didn’t need to as this wasn’t his first
time staying here. That helped Tyran settle in. He didn’t like new
establishments very much but knowing that his partner knew the area, that
encouraged him to relax.
The droids left their belonging in the entrance of their rented
apartment. Xobie checked the room for any unwanted devices. He was pleased when
he found none. Tyran had taken up a medative state to go through the day’s
events. This was routine for him as it allowed him to collect his thoughts. He
also felt closest to the force when he switched off from the world. He enjoyed
clearing his mind.
Xobie’s routine consisted of checking his weapons, one at a time. This
took him a few minutes each and afterwards, he placed them beside his bedside.
He led down and closed his eyes. “Don’t be long; we have a busy day tomorrow”.
Tyran sensed him fall asleep.
